Hi
Well, I am running PHP 4 on Suse Linux with Apache and Bind 8 - I am my own primary DNS and have a good secondary set up off site.
Suddenly, in the middle of the day yesterday, PHP decided it could no longer look up DNS entries, so when I was opening remote images/files by URL, or remote mySQL databases, it suddenly started timing out instead of resolving the names.
I restarted named and then apache .. no effect. named is responding correctly to nslookup, host, qmail and just about everything else but PHP still can't resolve things.
I put some common entries in etc/hosts ... now PHP can find them, but only them .. still not resolving general entries.
It had been working before, though I suspect it may have been patchy in the past
Any advice/ideas??
