php_gd.dll problems

so i have the gd library, and i changed the php.ini to reflect it, but i still get errors.

Fatal error: Call to undefined function: imagecreate() in C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\gd.php on line 5

PHP Warning: Unable to load dynamic library 'C:/InetPub/scripts/PHP/xtensions/php_gd.dll' - One of the library files needed to run this application cannot be found. in Unknown on line 0

below is what i have in my php.ini

extension_dir=C:/InetPub/scripts/PHP/xtensions/
extension=php_gd.dll

any ideas?

The versions do not match.

I could not get GD working on PHP 4.0.6 running on a windows machine.. so I reverted back to 4.0.4 and used the easy windows installer which includes the correct version of GDlib for 4.0.4.

I have downgraded to 4.04 and i still get the same error.

what do you have set as your extension_path ?

Make sure that there are no other PHP directories in your filesystem. I had the same problems when I downgraded.. once i deleted the files in question everything worked fine.

I believe that I went into the .reg and changed the path to my new PHP folder.

Hey John u talk about some sort of an installer??

I have almost finished by applicationa dn I need to use the GD libiary to finish it right off,

I am using win98
I have donwloaded the GD libary
(should this have containded a dll file?)

I am clueless what to do now

I tryed removing the ; from the line in my php ini file that refered the the GD libary

that just said

The server is overloaded

I am using PHP 4.0, I would really love to use this installer you mentioned as I am desperate to make the GD libary work

I am using mysql and the Xitami server.
