Transforming XML with PHP

well here it is..

method=text
output encoding=utf-8
input encoding=utf-8

i have an xml file that is transformed with PHP that creates an html file with the data in my xml..

i can't seem to get it to recognise the 'cent' sign.. (as in dollars and cents)..

¢ gives me an extra character along with the cent sign..

also, the text method puts an additional / in my html tags.. (<br/>, <hr/> etc)..

does anyone know why this happens and how i can get around this problem?

changing the method to html doesn't help either..

You can't get it to recognize the ¢ sign in the XML, or when you're outputting to HTML?

The <br /> and <hr /> are standards in XHTML, which basicially defines some stricter rules for HTML to make it compatible as XML becomes more standardized.

well.. the XML doesn't have a problem with it..

the HTML reads it but adds an extra character..

i tried disable-output-escaping.. and it seems to work fine with an html method..

so i guess my problem is solved.. (i think!)..
