only errors with .phtml extension

I installed PHP4 on my Windows machine running PWS, and after some slight modifications I finally got it working correctly, except for the fact that I get HTTP 500 Internal server errors on pages with the .phtml extension. Extensions .php and .php4 work fine. I added the .phtml extension to the "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE......Script Map" in the registry. What am I doing wrong?? Also, should I see something when I double click the php.exe file? All I'm getting is a blank command-looking screen that doesn't seem to respond to any text input.

phtml is depreciated. But if you want it you will need to map that extension to php.exe as was done with php and php4. With PWS I'm not sure how you would go about doing that though.
