APC and memory troubles

Hi,

I'm having some troubles with APC and was wondering if anyone else had seen
this and perhaps knew of a solution...

Basically, random pages at random times cause the script to run out of
memory. This first happened with the default 8Mb limit, so I upped it to
20Mb but the problem remained; intermittent page accesses die with an out of memory error on a line containing an include() command.

It happened in both the shm and mmap modes. the versions are PHP 4.0.5 as an
apache DSO and APC 1.1.0pl1.

Has anyone seen this before? Is there anything else thats likely to cause
problems with APC?

I saw a similar problem after the cache had been running for awhile. I set a timeout on the cached scripts (I used 7200) and the problem disappeared.

I seem to remember there was something about includes and relative paths causing problems, too. See question 13 in the APC FAQ

My problems were slightly different - on the first two attempts it took a long time for the errors to occur, but on the third it was within 30 minutes 🙁(

Also all includes use absolute paths (dynamically built) so that shouldnt be the problem either.

Its weird. I want to have a go at fixing it but I've little experience of PHP extensions so its an uphill struggle with no time to do it in 🙁(
