Install/upgrade help on linux

Hi.
My questions are about upgrading apache and/or php and/or mysql on a linux system.
I'm quite new (newbie😉 to linux .. then:
once i have installed a working lamp environment, how to upgrade my server with newest versions of software without any break nothing?
I know that some software to do this exist, (apachetoolbox), but howto make this by hand?

Btw my question was a little different.
I have a working linux+apache+mysql+php environment.
I need upgrade these packets. Howto?!

I have the same. I just shut down my apache server and then go through all the installation steps of whichever piece, e.g., php, apache, etc. If necessary I edit config files. Then I restart apache.
