help with mysql

hello..i have installed many pearl scripts and php scripts..but i have one question i have heard alot about mysql and stuff but how do i add it to my web page..i see i need it if i continue to use stuff like a guestbook..message board voting ect..but i don't know how to install it on my site..where and how do i install the program
? I have installed peral and picked it up fast as hell..so i think this shouldn't be that hard to..once i find out where i must place the files....please help me! thanks..

thanks i went there but is see stuff like..shell commands? and ect isn't that used with telenet? my host doen't supprot telenet..thats why i asked how do i install it to through a normal ftp? any other site i can get info from?

I'm willing to bet they won't look kindly upon you attempting to install a new server process then either.

I'd recommend talking to your current host about providing you mySQL support and if they won't, you'll need to look for a different host.

What he is trying to say - and lacks the communication skills to do is - does your webhost even offer MySQL databases to its customers? It seems that many webhosts, if they offer the service only allow you to access it through a web interface like PHPMyAdmin or something like it. You don't get a telnet/shell access and don't need it. You do all your uploading and setup via a webpage.

Please confirm with your webhost that you have MySQL privledges, and if so - ask how to go about it. That's what tech support is for at webhosting places.
