apache 2.0.28 & PHP4.1

I am trying to get these working together but running into an odd problem. apache compiles with DSO support and i am adding php like this:

./configure --with-apxs2=/usr/local/apache/bin/apxs
--with-mysql
--with-xml
--with-dom
--with-zlib-dir=/usr/include

php compiles without issues. once installed i edit httpd.conf and uncomment the AddType lines etc, restart apache and try to view a phpinfo page. the browser wants to download the file regardless what i do. html pages show up fine with a browser.

the system is mandrake 8.1 running on my laptop with the latest and greatest. i cant find anything from apache's site that would help me.. as far as i can see, nothing major changed from installation point of view between 1.3 and 2.0

I have run in to the exact same problem! (Nov 2001)

And I have asked here and there and everywhere and found just about nothing, except the same phrase from almost everyone that are not able to run it too: There is a major difference between Apache 1.3 & 2.0 when it comes to API and the structures of the DSOs...

i figured this out. checkout the latest php source from cvs repository, you have to checkout zend too.. then run builconf. php.net has very good instructions how to do the entire thing. then compile as usual.

I got part of the answer. Looks like Apache 2 doesn't use the AddType config lines anymore. Instead, you have to use something like:

<FilesMatch ".php(.+)?$">
SetInputFilter php
SetOutputFilter php
</FilesMatch>

That will take care of .php and .phps, BUT it will not render the source if it hits a phps file. If anyone can figure that out, plz post the answer!
