ifx_connect: Can't connect ...

Hi,

Here is the situation:

When I run this php code :

note: <abc> represents the ifx_connect parameters, and they are good, because another machine with MS Windows NT and php can connect with this code.

<?php
$conn_id = ifx_connect(<abc>);
print "conn_id : $conn_id";
?>

... I have this result :

Warning: ifx_connect: E [SQLSTATE=IX 000 SQLCODE=-25596] in /www/html/tests/testifx.php on line 2

Does someone know where the problem could be situeated ?
the Client SDK ?
the env variables ?

Here s the meaning of the error number.

The INFORMIXSERVER value is not listed in the sqlhosts file or the Registry.

The default database server name that the INFORMIXSERVER environment variable specifies must be a valid database server name in the file $INFORMIXDIR/etc/sqlhosts on UNIX or the registry on Windows. Check that the specified server is listed in the sqlhosts file or the registry.

thx, it was effectively not set, but now I have another error code :

Warning: ifx_connect: E [SQLSTATE=IX 000 SQLCODE=-25555] in /www/html/tests/jd/testinformix.php on line 13
Can't connect to database.

to spare your time and mine, could you tell me where I can found a kind of list with these codes and their correspondance ?
Does this exist ?

my sqlhosts file is well set, I have a INFORMIXSERVER=the_same_name_as_in_sqlhosts
I have an INFORMIXDIR=/informix ok, and INFORMIXDIR/bin is in the PATH

but I get a 25596 which says that my INFORMIXSERVER is different than the name in my $INFORMIXDIR/etc/sqlhosts file ...
And it is in my sqlhosts file !

I have maybe a beginning of explanation, but not a solution.
My INFORMIXSERVER is effectively not the same as in the sqlhosts file, but I set it with the correct string before the ifx_connect.
but if I try to do a

print $GLOBALS["INFORMIXSERVER"];

blah
$GLOBALS["INFORMIXSERVER"]="blahblah";
print $GLOBALS["INFORMIXSERVER"];
blahblah
phpinfo();
...
...
INFORMIXSERVER=blah
!!

does my INFORMIXSERVER have to be set at compilation time ????

Since you're running this on NT and I'm using various flavors of Unix, there may be some difference. I have INFORMIXSERVER set in my httpd.conf file for Apache using the SetEnv command.

You might try using putenv() to set INFORMIXSERVER in your code.

You also may need to study up on the scope of your variables.

I'm using Linux and Solaris for these tests,
The test on NT was done by a collegue who have done a connectivity test with an NT CSDK.

well, I have a series of error codes. I resolve them one by one, so I'll ask some questions when I'll be unable to solve them.
