according to the version of windoze, that you have, eg: 98/2k or NT. Simply read the php.ini, the httpd.conf.
in httpd a section called AddHandler
stick in the AddHandler line /php/ then exactly where the php installation directory lives on the pc/workstation, eg: c:/apache/php/php.exe
stick in the AddType section line
AddType application/x-html (something like that, anyway, you'll see stuff on both the above lines showing, you how. Generally, the syntax, is .php, to parse all *.php files to php.exe.
Drawing elements, can be installed via 'modules' (php_gd.dll , ex🙂
traverse the php.ini file, search for the extensions section, where
;extensions=php_gd.dll
Simply remove the semi-colons, only on the
extensions that you want invoked.
versions 4.x dont suppt GIF's anymore, thus
you should convert all your gifs into png's
else you could get charge for using them,if
you go live.

It's difficult to know what wrong with your stuff, you didn't supply 'OS' version,
Web Server s/f (apache 1.3 or higher, work transparently, with all windoze versions.
If you haven't got it, then do so PWS IIS may work, but require respectively, specialized configur~tion, stay well clear of them both.
