Reinstalling Apache?

Hey all,
Im pretty sure I need to reinstall apache,I just need to know a few things. My system is a Cobalt Linux Raq3 server that is located in the usa ( i live in the netherlands)

0)I need to know the version of apache that is running, how can I know this from telnet?
1)How do I uninstall apache? And will anyone on the server suffer damage?loss?
2)OKay now HOW do I install apache right now, so pHP and etc will work.
3)Will reinstalling NOT mess up my cobalt Raq3? because its a preinstalled server, but I am not happy with it.

Any good tips or links to tutorials would be REALLY appreciated. THNX ALL!

I am still a newbie in Unix.

0) telnet localhost 80
after it disconnect, you can see the version of apache.
1) I think you can direct delete the apache directory if you installed it by it's source. Generally, the www root does not in the apache's root, but you still must check it before.

3) I don't know how to answer you, but I think you should check the customerized things.
