php4 on windows xp

yesterday i tried to install php4 on my platform which is windows xp pro but it didn't really do anything, so i was wondering if php is stable on winXP. if it isn't then i have to go back to win 2000 pro.

but I still have some problems configuring
apache2 and php4 to work together.I have tried more than 2 days,in no vain.could you
please paste your php.ini and http.conf here,or show us how you solve the problem?
