Bizzare problem

Hi,

I have made various changes to the config of PHP on my development machine (WinXP). I have installed PHP many times before without problem, but I cannot work this one out.

I am using php4apapche.dll. When using sessions, I get :

Warning:open(/tmp\sess_d5b7ecd7b8f1d26181939b90325db581, O_RDWR) failed: m (2) in ...

but the php.ini file is pointing to the correct location.

I have checked and there is only one php.ini on the machine, in WINNT. Also, I have done a text search on the whole machine for /tmp, and haven't found it. I deleted all relevant files and reinstalled them. I still can't solve this.

Anyone any idea what is going on?

Ok. I've got it running with a workaround, by creating c:\tmp\

I would like to know why this is happening though.

You have the answer yourself!
You say the warning is:

Warning:open(/tmp\sess_d5b7ecd7b8f1d26181939b90325db581, O_RDWR) failed: m (2) in ...

It says clear that PHP tried to open the file /tmp/sess_d5b... but it failed. This can be of many reasons. The first you should think of "is there a directory called tmp on my machine?" Answer! obviously there wasn´t and after you created one it worked. Second would be if the webserver didn´t have privileges to write to directories. Vut that´s another issue.
