Out of all the PHP people, is everyone as clueless to the security update as I am on how to actually patch and get it INTO php?

Talking about the php 4.0.6 update file for downlaod from php.net that has NO INSTRUCTIONS WHATSOEVER.

Baffled by this... SOME one has got to know how to do what this file needs done??? Someone? Anyone? Please?

It's a DIFF patch which is applied to your PHP sourcecode. If you're not familiar with applying DIFF patches and re-compiling PHP, then I suggest you just upgrade to 4.1.2.

You know, the file is so small, I don't know why they dont just have you replace the same named file and recompile.

Then again, if they made their website work right for download, I wouldn't have to go digging for the filename and be forced with asking questions.

While I'm at it, I guess the lack of any sort of helpful information on their part, leads me to believe they are just pathetic and I am wasting my time caring.

Whats even sadder.. no wait.. funny; is that you asked for the answer to be handed to you on a silver platter, and then complained when given a workable solution that involved some work. You clearly know little about the environment you are dealing with, and quite frankly, if you have such a good idea for making a patch go quicker, quit your bitching and write it yourself. Contribute, instead of filling up forums with things like your last post....No... its not sad, its actually funny.

If you can't be bothered to learn how to run the patch program, I have no pity on you and I hope you switch to developing in Windows with ASP and VB script where you belong. Then, when your box gets rooted and you lose all your data, you can go whine in a different forum than this one.

Try 'man patch' from the shell. It's amazing how much help is build into a Unix / Linux box, if you know how to look for it.

Whoa...you guys need to chill out. I see you two (Scott Marlowe and vincent) here all the time answering questions. Perhaps you need a break...answering questions here eats away at you after awhile. And it's frustrating when people ask before bother trying anything themselves. I'm not telling you anything you don't already know. So take a break or something. Relax. You need it...you'll never see me here for more than a day or so.
