Php 4 with apache again

Hi all,
Environment :
OS : windows 98

Web server : Apache1.3.23

For several days I've been struggling with the installation of PHP4 on my Apache server.

I have followed the instructions as given on: http://shanx.com/php/install_win32.txt

but I get this error message:

Syntax error on line 830 of C:/apache group/apache/conf/httpd.conf:
Cannot load c:/apache group/apache/modules/mod_php4/sapi/php4apache.dll into server: (1157)

Can anyone help me in this deadlock

Peter,

It sounds like you are using the wrong path in your load module statement. The load module should point ot teh sapi directory of your php install.

Checklist:

Copy php4ts.dll to \windows\system\
Copy one of the php ini files from the php install directory into \windows
Change that ini file to be called php.ini
In your new php.ini change the line that starts extension_dir to point to the extensions directory of your php install
e.g. extension_dir = "C:\php4\extensions"
In httpd.conf add:
a. LoadModule php4_module "C:/php4/sapi/php4apache.dll". This should point to the SAPI directory of your PHP installation.
b. Add the two lines creating the PHP association:
AddType application/x-httpd-php .php .phtml
AddType application/x-httpd-php-source .phps

It solved my problem, but another replaced.
I get a 404 now when I try to run a php script.

I had all kinds of errors trying to get PHP to work right with Apache under windows.. but then I found PHPTried at www.phpgeek.com and installed that .. all my variables and everything were preset and have not had one error in any of my php scripts as of yet. I know it's not a answer to your current problem.. however a simple fix.
