php.ini, location, windows

The problem: Executing <? phpinfo() ?> does not reflect editing of php.ini. A search of Formum provided clues but no definitive answer.

The environment: NT4.0. PHP4+ Apache

Test method: phpinfo shows php.ini located in winnt. Renamed (and also deleted) php.ini to something else. Restarted Apache (also stopped and started) with phpinfo() still showing the php.ini file being located in c:\winnt\

A search was conducted of C drive for other php.ini files. One was found in c:\winnt\system and deleted with the above process repeated again to no effect with phpinfo() still showing the php.ini file being in C:\winnt

I failed to mention above that I needed some help in solving the case of the Phantom PHP.INI.
IF there are any ghost hunters out there, I would appreciate your assistance.

I really don't know what I did to do it...maybe it was the 2 hours of praying since I last took out time to touch the PC...but at any rate PHP is now referring to the php.ini file located in c:\winnt.

I did do the following. Whether this is the cure, I have no idea.

I removed the php.ini file from winnt and placed it in another directory, in my case. \temp.

I restarted Apache. phpinfo() still showed php.ini being in the winnt directory even though it wasn't.

I copied php.ini back to c:\winnt from c:\temp and restarted Apache.

Worked like a charm.
