PWS and PHP install problem

hi,

i d/loaded the PHP 4.x installer and ran it on my Win98 PC, on which i am also running PWS.

when i try to access .php files using my browser, i get the following error message:

This PHP CGI binary was compiled with force-cgi-redirect enabled. This means that a page will only be served up if the REDIRECT_STATUS CGI variable is set. This variable is set, for example, by Apache's Action directive redirect.

i tried changing the switch in the php.ini file in \windows, but no joy.

has anyone else ever had this problem? i'm not super-technical, just need to get PHP working on my machine real quick.

Hi

I had the same problem.

I changed the php.ini file and disabled the force-cgi-redirect line. Set it to 1. It worked. I am not sure whether that is the best way in terms of security.

Has anyone replied to you on this? If yes, can you let me know their advice?

bingo! you're advice worked a treat. the key was that i had failed to notice that the force-redirect line in the .ini file was commented out at first. DOH!

i'm afraid nobody else has come forward with any advice, but i'll keep checking this thread and let you know..
