PHP 4.3_dev / PHP 4.2 will not send vars

PHP 4.3_dev and PHP 4.2 will not send any variable, can anybody help me to get it working? I've switched in php.ini register_globals on, but ik will not work.
also if I do read.php?postid=2 it will not read the postid.

Try to get the variable with this variable:
$_REQUEST["postid"]
