query string variable data

using apache 2 and php 4.2.0 nicely on my RedHat machine - except that the the query string variable data doesn't get passed. I think the variable scope changes from 4.1 are confusing me - or maybe apache or php configuration. I dunno. Any ideas.

use $GETS[var]/$POSTS[var] or change the "register_globals" to "on" under php.ini

I use $_GET[varname] and it's working nicely now.
