Apache 2.0.39 & PHP 4.2.1 & WinXP

I have installed both and have tried all the alternatives provided in this support forum among others.

I have come to the conclusion that the following is the problem:

LoadModule php4_module "c:/PHP/sapi/php4apache2.dll" also used single quotes and none at all.

I have made sure that I have the index.php in the DirectoryIndex of the httpd.conf.

put both the php4ts.dll & php4ts.lib in the windows/system32 folder.

included:
AddType application/x-httpd-php .php .php4 .phtml

Even edited the php.ini files doc_root = "my apache htdocs path goes here"

HELP HELP HELP! Running out of solutions.

After running a test configuration in command prompt.

C:\Documents and Settings>"C:\Program Files\Apache Group\Apache2\bin\Apach
e.exe" -t -f "C:\Program Files\Apache Group\Apache2\conf\httpd.conf" -d "C:\Prog
ram Files\Apache Group\Apache2."

Results:

Apache.exe: module "c:\php4build\snap\sapi\apache2filter\sapi_apache2.c" is not
compatible with this version of Apache.
Please contact the vendor for the correct version.

There has to be an error when they compiled Apache.

It seems that the dll file that comes with the PHP release doesn't like Apache 2.0.39
