Problem with php-4.2.2

hello everyone,

iam facing problem with upgrading the php-4.2.2 at present iam having the php-4.0.1 in my system iam working on RedHat Linux 7.1. I have downloaded the php-4.2.2 fon the net which is .tar.gz not a .rpm file when iam compiling the file it raising an error in 'configur' file iam using the command like this---> ./configure --with-mysql --with-apxs, this is the command what iam using.

can anybody help me in this issue.

I have just done this and moved to apache2 at the same time. If you have apache 2 you must use --with-apxs2 not --with-apxs, and you may need to specify the location of the programme. When I configured it ran ok, then failed at make time with all sorts of errors, these can be corrected following the MODULE-MAGIC comments at http://www.php.net/manual/en/install.linux.php

Oh, dont forget that you need to run configure for apache before running configure for php.
