GD errors when compiling php 4.2.2

Yep, what's up with the PHP group? These errors have been well documented for almost two weeks now. Here's what I get:

php_functions.c:93:27: missing binary operator before '!'
make[3]: [php_functions.lo] Error 1
make[3]: Leaving directory /root/software/php-4.2.2/sapi/apache2filter' make[2]: *** [all-recursive] Error 1 make[2]: Leaving directory/root/software/php-4.2.2/sapi/apache2filter'

I'm getting the same error:

I found the fix!!!!!!!

Line 93 in file "sapi/apache2filter/php_functions.c" which comes looking like
this:
#if !MODULE_MAGIC_AT_LEAST(20020506,0)

Change it into this:
#if MODULE_MAGIC_NUMBER < 20020506
