Getting PHP to work...

Okay, Apache seems to work... I can access the files by going to http://192.168.15.3/ (which is my local server's address on the LAN), but when I try to access a PHP file, such as phpinfo.php, it just keeps on trying to load but goes nowhere. What am I doing wrong this time?

(Why isn't there an easier way to install all of this stuff?)

Hello. Well, my problem is this. My ISP has setup
a server(linux) with apache installed on it. When I try
to add php tags(<? or<php) and embed the code into
my html document, I see nothing when viewing in my
browser. I don't know if i'm supposed to save it as
an html file, a text file, or php file. Can you help. If
I find solution to your problem I will contact you.

OK, so they have apache and linux, but have they configured php? You'll need to find that out first. If they haven't, lookup how to configure php to run as a cgi using .htaccess files or run all your files through your cgi-bin dir...just make sure you put the php.ini file somewhere under your ~

Nusphere looks interesting but for i prefer to play around with some freeware first.

NuSphere is "freeware", ... like many Linux Distros (or Real.com), they hype the pay version incessantly and you have to slog through to find the free distro (after a "give us a name and e-mail" screen). I was rather impressed by it's quick and easy install, and I have had no problems with it. I am thinking about installing a newer version to play around with the Gemini support; and have been wondering if I can get that PHP IDE in the freeware distro as well...
