COM

I'm trying to use com on my NT box to do some stuff with doc files etc...

Using: PHP Version 4.0.3pl1

Com in phpinfo says:
com
Directive Local Value Master Value
allow_dcom Off Off
typelib_file no value no value

But, the documented com functions like "com_invoke" give me an "undefined function error"

Have you ever figured this out? I'm having the same problem with com_invoke.

I would love to see some documentation but I couldn't find any at the time.

Did you try to use the other method to invoke com objects?

eg. $excel = new COM("Excel.sheet") or Die ("Did not instantiate Excel");

I have had some success in calling the functions directly (for example:
$comObj = new COM("MyApp.PGService") or die("Unable to instantiate MyApp");

$buf = $CBAS->ValidateLogin("username","password");

What I've discovered (and someone can perhaps validate this) is that the methods in the COM object have, as their last parameter, a pointer to a BSTR variable. When calling the method from PHP, I pass the prior arguments and the function returns the third argument. Not intuitive, but it seems to work that way.

$buf = $MyApp->ValidateLogin("username","password");
