GD support

Hi!
I was tryin to put GD to use but it isn't working! i downloaded apache & php 4.0.4 and changed extensions of dlls(removed 😉 and it still isnt working(im a win98 user)! The PHP is working properly and everything so it isnt problem in config of those files. I am using on the other disk (other windows )php triad and it doesnt support GD. Can anybody help me on configuration GD? Thank, Miro

Miro, does the GD extension show up in phpinfo();? If you are under Win98, I've found it a little hairy to get everything working together once I start tweaking things here and there; if you can, you might want to "start over" with a pre-compiled/pre-config'd Apache+PHP combo package that has GD working "off the shelf"... you can find one of those at php4win.de.

(funny, that's the 3rd time tonight I've passed that address on as an answer to a question... who knew PHP dev on Windows was so popular? <g>)

I got it worikng. The problem was in php.ini! One of the things that were not written in anz manual is that extension_dir=c:\php is not valid unless you have dlls in that directory.
Instead of changing
extension_dir=c:\php\extensions i copied required dlls in to the c:\php directory and started the php.exe

Also a thing to look in php.ini is that there shouldnt be a ; sign in front of extension=php_gd.dll cause that means it want work. Also you should make a copy of a php.ini and put it also to c:\php directory as well as in c:\windows.
I hope that this will help someone doing this cause GD is a good thing.
I used my directories while i was writting this but c:\php is a directory where your php.exe is and c:\windows is my win directory for 98.(nt users have other names for that directory.)

Hey, I have installed php404 (down. from php4win.de) but man, gd does not working, when i try to use imagecreate() it says fatal error undefined function...anyway i have installed on my win + pws system, configure php.ini do the way you did, copy dll's to my dir. and change extension_dir to this dir but after running php.exe it says unable to load dynamic library c:\inetpub\scripts\php/php_gd.dll i think the problem is this slash before .dll file..So it's still going on to be headache...I am searching hundreds of sites and forums this is the only one QUESTION about my problem.
