compiler for windows

I\'m kinda new to php and i was wondering if there is anyway you can check to see your coding in a web browser without uploading the sources to a websever or being connected to the internet.

South.22, you have to be running PHP for it to run your code, so you're really looking for a copy of PHP to run on whatever operating system you have on your computer. Once it's running (along with a web server), you can do everything locally and without any connection to the Internet.

You don't way what OS you're running but if it's Win 98 or Me, try http://php4win.de or php.weblogs.com/easywindows for a one-stop download that works great.

one thing that you should know is that PHP is not compiled like C/C++ which you may be learning. It is compiled at runtime or "interpreted". This means that you are going to have a difficult time finding something like an Integrated Development Environment (IDE) to work in. The best way for you to develop is in any kind of a text editor, also, download Personal Web Server (from Microsoft) or Apache (from apache.org), you can run that web server on virtually any system and test your code right at your computer.

There IS a compiler for PHP under development try http://www.zend.com if it has been released. It compiles to intermediate code like java. But we have to find out still how secure it is, compared to java compilers and java decompilers, if you know what i mean.

Lets talk about Zend Encoder, which is the proverbal PHP Compiler.

1) Free Eval, but costs 2400 U.S. Dollars

2) Need to get Zend Optimizer to make it work

I dont know about you guys, but I do most of my work as a hobby or knowledge adventure and not corporate work, so getting a compiler from Zend isnt really worth it. Lets just say by the time it pays itself I would have already moved onto the next latest and greatest web scripting language 🙂
