PHP Mail failing on 4.04

All,
I was using php 4.0 (the released version before 4.04) and I've had a mail() command that ran perfectly fine. When I installed 4.04 my mail command comes back with a "Server Error" and also my header(Location:"bla.com"); is causing an error.

I'm guessing I need to change some sort of configuration, but I am at a loss at what. I have the php.ini file set up correctly for the smtp server location and such. Here are the errors that I am now getting:

Warning: Unknown error in d:\apache\htdocs\mail_contact.php on line 4

Warning: Unknown error in d:\apache\htdocs\mail_contact.php on line 6

Warning: Cannot add header information - headers already sent by (output started at d:\apache\htdocs\mail_contact.php:4) in d:\apache\htdocs\mail_contact.php on line 8

I am running on Windows ME Apache and PHP 4.04.

I placed the php.ini file in the wrong directory (windows/system) when it should have gone to (windows).

My code is right, I am just a moron 🙂

so i'm a moron too
i have the exact same error and the php.ini is inthe right dir and i can't send even simple emails like
mail("[e-mail], "Posted " . date("m/d/Y"), "teste");

At http://www.koehntopp.de/php/errors.html#fehler-unbekannt they say, that this could be caused by a missing or misconfigured mailserver. At my installation, I've the mailserver running correct (can send mails from OE over MailServer and receive them again with OE), but PHP still says "unknown error" grrrrrr

I have just had a similar problem. I realised that none of the parameters of the php.ini file were being loaded.

The php.ini isn't being read!

Change the NT security rights on the php.ini file (allow everybody to read) and you will certainly solve your problem.

You shouldn't even need to reboot or restart server.
