mail doesn't work on PHP v4.02 and up...

I'm running PHP 4.01PL2 on WinNT and IIS4 and having no problem sending mail there, but now when I try to upgrade to v4.04PL1 I get HTTP 500 error when running the mail function.

I've also tried earlier version and the problem comes with v4.02 and up.

After I have tried to access a page that uses the mailfunction, nothing works anymore!
I have to restart my server!

What can this be?

Another problem that I still haven't worked out, not working on v4.01PL2 either is that I can't send mail externally, only internally! We run another WinNT server with Exchange as the mailserver (SBS, SmallBusinessServer) and Outlook works perfectly on that one but I can't send mail externally through PHP! (We have a proxy too)

My settings on the intranet server, php.ini is:
[mail function]
SMTP = sbs
sendmail_from = [e-mail]
;sendmail_path =

Any ideas??

I solved the first problem I had about the mail function not working in PHP4.02 and up... it was because I had set CC: to nothing! If I remove CC: there's no problem.

Have to experiment with CC: more another time, but obviously u can't set CC: blank anymore! Bug??
