Is php unstable on win?

I've heard that php is unstable in a windows enviroment.
Is there anyone that knows if this is correct?

I've been running php on my Windows 98 machine for quite a while now, and have never had a problem since. I use that particular Win98 machine for various web tasks, such as a small web server as well as my personal web development machine, and they all use php happily. I run Apache, along with MySQL on that Win98 machine.

No, never seen a problem. Run under IIS on NT 4 and under BadBlue under Win98 and WinME. I've never seen a problem.

That may depend on relative point of view, since PHP is often times run on Apache on Windows, and Apache, although very stable, isn't as stable on Windows as is on Unix. Despite this, I've been able to use PHP on Windows to test my scripts without stability problems.

The only problem I've ever seen (and this was in PHP 3 so it may have been fixed) is that when you try to upload a file bigger than some arbitrary (sp?) size, PHP3 on Windows NT under IIS breaks down. Other than that I've seen no real problems other than the previously mentioned issues with Apache on NT.

PHP 4.x is sometimes unstable in certain configurations on windows.

I've had two users of my product report that php will sometimes have random behavior and crash. Others have mentioned that it runs fine as CGI but not as an ISAPI module.

That said I installed and ran it perfectly fine on my win2k/php4.0.3/apache setup.

You can take a look at php.net's bug tracker and see how many crashing issues there are with windows. Hopefully it's been improving with new releases.

You didn't perhaps have the same problem I encountered regarding the browser popping up a username/passwd box everytime you try to view a .php page? know how to fix it?

I've had PHP crash running in ISAPI mode with IIS, but no problems so far with CGI.

i use it with Apache 1.3.17 and it rocks!
