PHP Installer Crashes on Win 2k Server

I have noticed on 5 different boxes that PHP installer crashes. Comes up with MsCOMCtl.OCX error.

Anyone else with this problem?
Anyone know how to fix this?

First off, what release of the PHP are you using? If it is the LP1, then that is probably why. I remember hearing that there was problems with that crashing on ME/2K computers. Maybe try LP2. If you are having any other problems please e-mail me.

well I got the same problem and it comes when you don't have the updaates for win2k.I just re-installed win2k after deleting the root folder(winNT.and I updated it to sp1 it goes well now.

Well, if you all are using IIS 5.0, then I suggest you use the manual install, and not the binary. I myself had to install PHP on a Win2K Professional server at work and I got the same error. I did a manual install and configured it with IIS and it worked great.

If you have another machine with Win2K installed, you can fix this problem.

1) Search for MSCOMCTL.OCX on your other machine. (It's probably in your \winnt\system32 directory)

2) Copy it to the Win2K server having the problem. Put it in the same folder )\winnt\system32)

3) Run (Windows Key+R). Type (without the quotes) "regsvr32 c:\winnt\system32\mscomctl.ocx".

And that should do it! Enjoy!

before installing php do i have to do anything (for win98)???where do i get php installer(for win98)??
and where do i get manual of installing php in linux server??
