Secure Page on an Intranet

Hi,

We're trying to set up a secure page on a small intranet for a college project just to demonstrate secure transactions..

My question is what do I need to do to do this or where can I find the relevant info.

Some lecturers were pointing us at the likes of verisign etc. but this is proving very confusing.

What's the easiest way to set up a secure page and do you have to have a certificate at all?? or does IIS have this built in??

Were just using a private intranet running IIS 5.0 on win2k we're not trying to set up a webserver or anything 🙂

By secure do you mean encrypted or password protected. If all you need is password protection turn on integrated nt security and set the permissions on your files directory to only allow access to a individual and or group. NT will authenticate to gain access to the file automagically.

Ciaran, if you really want SSL, you'll need to get a certificate (you can use Microsoft's Certificate Server to do this). This allows your server to establish a trust with a browser using a secure connection.
