execution function

Is there any execution function for Win32 platform, I have tried executing exec but it seems to work only with unix systems?

Seems to work for me. I tried this script,

<body>

<?php
exec("dir >c:\temp\php\temp.out");
?>

</body>

And it produced the expected file.
