win2000 install prob with www pub serv

Hello,

I've tried installing the latest php 4 and things go grand until i try to start the world wide web publishing service under the "services" area.

I keep getting this error:

Error 1747: The authentication service is unknown

Does anyone have any ideas about this?

i'm still a little lost, but that should be helpful! thanks a ton.

i guess i need to figure out if i don't have Client for Microsoft Networks installed on my box.

do you have any clues here? I'm not on any network at all. my computer is a standalone and I dial in to the web.

At first glance, I would suggest installing the loopback adapter.

Sir/s Please reply back has to how to install a Msloopback adapter in win200. The reason is that a client of mine requires to install a multimedia software which is in turn asking to install Msloopback adapter inorder to enable to install this software.

Please reply asap.
