PHP locks up IIS on WIN2000

I have installed PHP4 on a WIN2000 machine and when trying to run a php test page it locks up IIS totally. I am new to PHP and really don't know what to do. I want to run on IIS so solutions with Apache and Linux doesn't help. Any ideas??

Okay , first use the normal ini file and not the optimized one, make sure you installed right then give slam down that power button and go in for a reboot.

Well,what happened to me is that I can`t
kill the IIS proccess even after reboot!
Cannot remove IIS too!
I had no choice but to reinstall win2000.

I actually got PHP3 (not 4) to work so I am fine for the moment.

If IIS locks so bad that is described above: Just start the service manager and disable WWW and IIS Admin services. Reboot machine and go in to IIS Admin, delete references to PHP (that probably caused this), and start all over again.

For all users using IIS4/5 with PHP4

Make sure your php.exe, phpisapi and all other dlls are located to the path. To see what path you have you should right click "My Computer" and check properties.
Never uncomment any lines you don't need. When you accidentally hangs up the IIS, don't worry. Replace the original php.ini (of course this needs you rename the file) and reboot. There is no need to reinstall.
For users using MSSQL Server with PHP4: You can see "Windows Extensions" and "extension=phpmssql.dll". Rename as "extension=phpmssql70.dll". PHP 401 ships with phpmssql70.dll instead of the one listed on ini file. If you don't amend it and you uncomment it. IIS will hangs up.

I also got the same problems.
I think you can try to run
iisreset.exe to reset your IIS
when IIS Admin cann't show on the
screen.
Reboot after you reset IIS...
