PHP and WinNT in Production Env.

Is anyone using PHP and WinNT (ISAPI) in a production enviroment?

How sucessful has it been? (stability wise)

What is your configuration? (IIS or Apache | CGI or ISAPI)

Does it run better under WinNT 4 or Win 2K?

What hurdles are you encountering?

Any comments are extreamly welcome...

I have run ISAPI successfully on WinNT/IIS, but have had difficulties getting it to fuction properly in 2K/IIS. Judging by comments previously posted here and my personal experience, ISAPI can be hit or miss. If you need absolute stability, I'd stick to cgi for now. I have run this successfully on both NT and 2K with no stability problems. Hopefully, ISAPI will be made more stable in the next release. Hope this helps!

As far as I know:

ISAP is not stable enough for a production environment.

CGI is, but it is up to 3 times slower.

So I'm interested: Why don't you use Linux?

Well, if it was up to me, we would have switched to Linux a long time ago. However, my boss doesn't know how to administer it, so I'm stuck. Our site isn't high enough volume to notice the performance loss. It will be a moot point since he is making me learn ASP.

I would love to switch to Linux but I'm mot experienced enough with it to administer it. Since I a one man shop I need to go with something I know. Plus we already have some propriatry (excuse the spelling) systems runing on NT which PHP has to run side by side with.

At work we have 2k/IIS, and have had great success running PHP as CGI. The IIS/ISAPI module is not stable enough for a production environment. Personally, I have had great success running Apache with PHP loaded as an Apache module (php4apache.dll)

Well, thats funny the same applies to me

I'm working currently for Daimler Chrysler in germany and the adminstrators are arfraid of Linux (they run nt since a while) but now as we need PHP-capable-servers the discussion came up agein.

But plz. point your bosses to the secrity holes which appeared in the last time on Windows Platform with IIS.

I would be happy to supply a documentation that thoroughly describes how to get a Linux server up and running Apache, PHP, and Interbase 6.0 (imho, better than mySQL)
