uhhh... i was wondering how different is the sql @!#$ in "sql view" in ms-access from the sql statements in php (standard sql?)????
im asking because i'm not that cluey when it comes to sql (i know enough to get by) and because i know microsoft likes to add @!#$ to standards just to make things tricky 😉
Access SQL is completely different from Oracle SQL (if that's what you're asking). And both are different from Postgres or MySQL. All database back ends pretty much have their own unique syntax... Access, though, is really different with things like DISTINCTROW and its join mechanism.

huh? how can they be different? how do db abstraction layers work then?
if i do select * from test it works in mysql postgres AND odbc
now im really confused 🙂)))
Try something more complex (some joins, for instance) and you'll see what I mean. DB abstraction layers don't automatically handle the different SQL that Oracle might need vs. Access vs. Postgres...
hmmmm interesting... 😉
thanks
p.s. it seems ur the same dave that gave the dumb reply to my other question :-) for that i do apologise as i thought u were just giving adverts to ppl... i DID look at the site, v/interesting i must say... catcha later
