CHMOD under Win98?

I have a web server running under Win98 using Apache, I want to write enable a directory so people can upload stuff from the website, but can\'t seem to figure out how to 🙁

ummm... Under Windows 9X there is no file permisions Scheme. So in effect all files are read and write by all programs, you should not have to do anything extra.

Does this mean that a customer to a comapny with windows severs needs to call the administrator to change his permissions everytime he needs to change a permission!!!

You\'re not able to create File Permissions on Windows 98.... However, the \"ATTRIB\" Command in DOS might work in this case (Hidden,Read Only,Archive)

no such thing as permissions on 98. get 2000. see if you can find anything in php.ini

MY first suggestion is try this utility at http://www.cygwin.com/ if you insit off running off a winbox

MY second suggestionis you might want to try getting a POSIX based system to play off of.

Some good ones for beginers are
Phat Linux, Zip Slack, pklinux

All run offyour native disk drive, so you dont have to worry about repartioning anything. All are available for free off the net.

If you have some bucks, you could get a copy of Windows NT/2000 and try out vmware
