Saving to local file

I would like to save the text content generated by my script to a local file on windows.

I would like my program to display a popup window similar to the windows 'save as' popup to allow the user to specify the file name and location.

Can anyone point me to the php functions that I need to use to accomplish this.

try starting the php output with something like "header("Content-Type: application/download\n");
header("Content-Disposition: attachment; filename=BlahBlah.txt");"
followed by the body

it will begin to download and give a Save As window with the default file name BlahBlah.txt

Except on IE. IE automatically tries to open filetypes that it can render (images, text files, Word docs, etc.)

actually, IE 5.5 is the standard at my company; if you tell it to use the header "Content-Type: application/download" it doesn't know what the actual MIME type is and tries to download it (as opposed to using a specific header like "Content-Type: application/[doc or xls or pdf, etc]" wherein it knows what OLE libraries to reference); giving it an extension in the header after declaring a different type of content-type only creates a default filename.

If you use :
heade("ContentType:application/download\n");

it'll download anything, no need to give mime
