dshellgenerichook.dll error

I had installed the latest version of Imesh on XP and of course found myself staring at the imfamous dshellgenerichook.dll error pop-up and found out the following. It has to do with the "FTP_back.exe and I solved the problem by removing Imesh and then using "regedit" to edit my registry. I went to:
HKey_Local_Machine/software/microsoft/windows/currentversion/run/"
Once there, I deleted the entry in "setFTPBack". The error message stopped. Certain hidden files associated with the "FTP_Back.exe" will remain on your system but will remain inactive and in my case causing no furture problems.

yes this has something to do with imesh.haven't figured it out yet.but if you have roadrunner or dsl, i believe this file allows downloads from your pc while you are on but not logged into imesh.something to do with file sharing.Because occasionally i get a message from my firewall that something is going on and imesh is the culprit

Don't know if you fixed this prob as of yet.
I am trying to fix it also I think it has something to do with Morpheus( the file share thing). But that is as far as I have gotten. Please let me know if you fixed this prob and I spread the word.

Please read ALL the threads. The answer is here. Morpheus normally doesn´t generate this problem however it is a problem with a file sharing shareware/software, (Imesh is a suspected problem causing shareware program), that you have installed somewhere along the line. The prob lies with an associated exe that starts atomatically when Windows starts. (this exe looks for and loads adverstisements that the software displays.) It simply tries to set everything up so when the software starts it haves all resources that it needs. This exe is normally a "FTPBack" exe. You can delete everything associated with this "file-sharing" software however it doesn´t affect the system registry. The registry keeps looking for this exe even after it´s removed. You have to remove it from the registry manually. If you have fear that you might mess something up PLEASE get someone that knows how RegEdit works.

Thanks to all who wrote something in here. I had that damn "DSHELLGENERICHOOK.DLL" Problem for about 3 Month. Now I hope it is solved.
But I've another Problem. I can´t get imesh out of my autostart group. Can somebody help?

try the msconfig.exe in the RUN

there you can find a possibility to click it out - semms not to work under windows nt, but under windows 98

Im one more guy to thank you all for your great forum. Just like Eiion wrote, this bug was annoying me for the same three months, everytime I started my computer. This iMesh Program caused me a lot of trouble, worse than a virus! After many attempts to solve it, I read Koflers message. Then I finally found the msconfig.exe program inside the WINDOWS\SYSTEM folder. I ran it and found the RUN option. There I found the setFTPback checked (I thought I had already eliminated it using many different procedures before!).
I unchecked it, applied it, restarted the computer and bingo! It worked. Thank you, Kofler!

I'm not that much of a wizard inside the computer.
I found the solution in downloading the missing dll file from DLL-FILES.COM and copy it into windows/system.

Thank you Eva. This has fixed the problem. I'm 100% sure it was caused by IMESH, (which other readers has commented on). I have banished Imesh from my computer forever, never to be reinstalled.

I have bannished Imesh from my computer forever. It caused me nothing but heartache and pain. This is the method which I used to stop that annoying window to pop up twice everytime I started my computer, and this was after I uninstalled Imesh.
