Win2000, PHP, GD_Lib will not work?

Hi there

I've installed the components from the Subject (plus Apache and mySQL) on my Server and all worked great.

But if i would include the GD_LIB in the PHP.ini file everything stopped to work.

If i send a request for a PHP Script (can have commands for GD_Lib or not) my Server did not response, eg IE is working over 30min and nothing happens, then if i end IE and look the CPU Bar on my Server php.exe runs with the full CPU Power 90%-97% until i end it.

If i set back the php.ini to standart (make a ';' at the beginning from the line of GD_Lib)everything it's normal...

so anyone an idea what this could be and how i can solve the problem (i need the GD_lib)???

You need to download the full zip distribution from php.net. PHP extensions for WinDoze are just like all other 'Doze extensions.... dll files. The line you need to add/uncomment in php.ini reads:

  extension=php_gd.dll

If I had a nickel for everytime I've seen/answered this question on PHPBuilder in the last 2 months I could retire quite comfortably........ the forum search feature and PHP Manual exist for a reason..... I wish people used them🙂

of course i tried the forum search, but on my query String "GD" no results are found. so what should i do? post a new message...

My comments weren't aimed at you specifically, they were more of a general lamentation about seeing the same GD question asked over and over (and over) again. As the error message your search produced suggests, the search usually doesn't work between 3-5 Central Standard Time (that's -0600 GMT) as the database is being updated and a new search index created. Trust me, this question has been hashed to death in this forum, but still it's re-posted several times a week. The installation and usage of the GD module also well documented on php.net.

A lot of the recurrance I'm sure relates to the fact that the 'Doze installer downloadable from php.net doesn't include any external extensions and RT(F)M seems to be a pretty foreign concept for much of the Win32 world. No offense was intended.

The php_gd.dll file in the zip distribution is all you need to enable GD on a Win32 installation (the library's from boutell.com are only needed for *Nix systems). If you have any further troubles config'ing GD drop me a line and I'll try to get you up and running.
