mail function

hi,
I am trying to get my mail function work correclty.
I got warning like this:

Warning: Failed to Connect in ..\processfeedback.php on line 50

and the email is not sent.
I have tried to change the [mail function] in php.ini, but it still did not work.
by the way i am using win32 and PHP Version 4.0.4pl1.

Anyone know how to solve this. Pls help me!!

Place the code from processfeedback.php otherwise nobody help you with that.

My code looks like this:

mail($toaddress, $subject, $mailcontent, $fromaddress); ==> give me error here

The warning says it failed to connect with ../processfeedback.php

Check the path given "../processfeedback.php"
try this "./processfeedback.php" note the one period before the slash. while i go through the code again (seems ok on a 1st look ) try the new path then see if there are any other warnings then we can take it from there...

i got similar error messages using mail(). using phpinfo() i recognized that php looked for php.ini (and smtp server) at c:\winnt\php.ini although my nt is installed on d:\winnt. moving php.ini from d:\winnt\system32\php.ini to d:\winnt\php.ini solved all my mail problems. :-)

I think the problem that most of us get from using mail function is that we don't set up the SMTP correctly.
I did that do and spent lots of hours in front of my computer with frustation.
but try to call your internet server provider and ask for the SMTP server for ongoing and outgoing mail.
they will tell you and just put that in your mail function in your php.ini.
hopefully you will see the mail function works.
