ssl, apache, and win2000

whats the deal with apache and ssl for WINNT?
I rekon i followed instructions and all, i get page cannot be displayed tryng to go to https://mysite.com or http://mysite.com:443. i pointed the dir for the vitual host to the same as my web root. is there another way to verify i have this setup alright? i know apache w/ssl isnt really supported but damn...

yeah that works, but it dosent prove that the server is ssl-aware/working...

hence, once again, is their a command line I could run to test it or some diagnostic page (ie phpinfo) that could help me from trying to recomplie this mofo...
