Session problem

Hi! All
We are having a problem in recognizing the session. The setup is Apache 1.3 and PHP4
when variables are passed it creates a session in the temp but when we go to the next page , the session is lost
I do not know what is happeneing

Being a beginner myself, this may not be the best solution - but it seems to have worked for me. What I did was put the session_start() at the top of every page that needs to have access to the session variables. I also appened the SID onto the links. I did it by doing something along the lines of :

echo \"<a href=\\"next_page.php?\\"\".SID.\">The Next Page</a>\";

as far as i know, you have to use session_register() on every page you use. i'm definatly no pro but it worked for me.

session_register() isn't required on every page, only when you register a variable for use with the session (the page where the variable would originate)
as stated by A.W., put session_start(); at the top of each page and pass the session id to each page through a cookie, url, or hidden form fields.

Ok, first - I appologize for the really bad way my last reply looked. Second, when I went home and played around with the sessions a bit more, I noticed that (at least on my server) that I only needed to put the session_start(); on the pages that needed access to the session variables if cookies are used. If you use cookies, you won\'t need to append the session id to your links. So, just ignore that hideous line I put in there that was meant to echo a url.

i include session() and sessionregister() which works - however my problem is that when i activate the include path for .inc
in my php.ini - it seems to prevent sessions being written and i get errors similar to P Talwar's problem - anyone got any idea how that might be happening ? -
if i ";" out the path - the session tmp path works again fine ...
