FYI, the new 1.5.3 version of the BadBlue PHP server supports integrated scheduling. This means that you can schedule daily, weekly or monthly jobs (with lots of options) to run PHP scripts, capture web pages to disk or simply execute Win32 apps. ok..... windows scheduler could already do this.

there is a free CRON utility for windows called CRONS... and i believe it is part of the AINTX package.

everytime i have ever had to schedule an event it has been far less then 1 day between jobs.

crontab is VERY easy to use... give it the command line instruction, and when to do it. simple.

How do you use built-in windows scheduling? I know there's an AT command in WinNT, but how about 95, 98, ME? And how would you kick off a PHP script? Thanks

go to windows scheduler... if you are like me you disable it like 5 minutes after you install windows... but it should still be on your system somewhere.

just hit new item or whatever, choose daily, weekly, month, or whatever, and the program to run.

to run a php script, just call the php executable in your php directory, and use the command line options to pass it your script

Couple of key differences between BadBlue's support and using system tools:

1) You can execute and/or capture remote or local web pages in addition to kicking off programs
2) Many more scheduling options (e.g., every 2 weeks, third Friday of each month, etc.) than built-in scheduling
3) You can execute full-blown query strings in scheduled scripts (local or remote)
4) Integrated scheduling works the same for Windows NT/2K as well as 95/98/ME
5) Syntax (IMO) is much easier than cron, e.g.: at=5:00 recurs=daily event="http://127.0.0.1/mypage.php >c:\temp\mypage.txt"
