GD help- create image by importing from others

Hi, everyone,

i currently have installed PHP4.0.2, Apache in Window98 with php_gd.dll installed too.

How could i create a image by importing other images and add some text on the image and finally display it on browser?
As what i knew that, imagecreatefromgif() in GD 1.3 support that.. but mine one is the newest version of GD. i have tried on imagecreatefromJpeg() but it doesn't have that function support!

Any one there could help me to solve this problem? or do u guys have any different way to do it??
