GD Lib

Hi I'm trying to get GD Lib to work on my Window machine I got installed php and everything works now I have the GD Lib too and I comment out extension=php_gd.dll in php.ini

now where is it that I specify the path of the GD Lib?

can someone explain me the different steps to install an extension for php or if is there somewhere in the web give me a link

In case of the win32 version of PHP an installation is fairly simple. All extensions are residing in the /extensions/ subdirectory (if you have downloaded the complete zip package instead of the installer).

They are represented by the according line in the php.ini, which needs to be cleaned from the comment symbol to be loaded. That's all. Note that extensions need to be compiled for each PHP release specificly.

So if I get this right I have the subdirectory with all of the php extensions and I already uncomment the php_gd.dll out then i don't need the GD Lib coz the php_gd.dll is the compiled version of it ,is that right?
and do I leave the dll in the extensions subdirectory or do I have to move it some where?

The GD Library is already included in win32 binary version of PHP (ZIP package) for quite a while now. The compiled file of the library is indeed php_gd.dll. Just edit the ini file and leave the rest as it is.
