win/apache refuses to use global vars ??

hi people,

after fighting with my php for another few hours about session variables, i finaly got it to work, with the $SESSION_VARS[] same with forms etc, the problem i have is that i hate using this method, and dont feel i need to, since im putting my pages on a unix server who has no problems.

i've set my php.ini file to register globals, but it just doesnt do it, i still cant acces session variables without the $SESSION_VARS etc method,

does anyone know a way of getting this to work? short of deleting windows....

some thing that really puzzles me,
if i use relative paths in for my include files, it works perfectly in my opera browser, but somehow MSIE doesnt accept it, it keeps nagging about c:\includes, this seems strange to me since php is server sided. any ideas why that can be, just curious bout that...

off topic but why not use iis isapi?
its much faster. try both. in fact i did some tests and php/iis/isapi is faster than native asp.. making it a really viable platform.. just curious.

i dont think i want to have iis on my server,
it's just too error prone, same with asp,
php is a good scripting laguage, fast and easy, and i tends to work well with apache.

i found out why it wouldnt accept thing like register globals thoug, in the manual it sais to edit php.ini and put it in your windows dir, so ifigured i needed to edit that one...
wrong.. it was the one in my php dir.

there is just one strange problem left, on my server now, being that somehow MSIE doesnt like my includes...
whenever i include a header with php's include command all works fine when i view my page with opera, but MSIE, just gives a blank screen, even though in the source i can see the include did come through....
prolly some odd msie 6 bug...

Hi there,

I'm having a similar problem that you experienced.

I have taken a copy of a php application that was running fine under UNIX, but when I installed locally on Windows NT (with Apache), I'm running into all sorts of problems with session variables.

Most globals are accessible such as $GLOBALS['HTTP_HOST'] which are variables global for Apache, however a variable such as $GLOBALS['session_hash'] cannot be found.

How exactly did you get around this? HOw did you get php to recognize the session variables?
