Got the same problem with Nero. Tried uninstall Nero and re-installed and have the same message as above. Please help

I am facing the same problem. I have tried almost everything and my CD-Rw and ROM drives still not working under a Windows 98. I think the problem began after i installed Internet Explorer 6.0 or the Windows Media Player 7. The curious think is that the drivers are recognized by the BIOS. I can't access the drivers specfication in the control panel druing normal windows sessions. But I can access it on the safe mode! Please help me! This is anoying me!!!

OK, if you computer is not seeing CD ROMs at all (will not read from them or show them in My Computer) then you could have a virus (in system proerties on the performance screen the computer will talk about MS-DOS Compatibility mode...go to www.symantec.com/avcenter and run their online virus check to be sure it's a virus), you might need to update the driver for the IDE controller (VIA is bad about this..if it is a via chipset download the upgrade from their web sit...4 in 1 driver), or you could have put a CD-ROM on the secondary IDE controller as slave without anything as master and have gotten a blue screen that says you can't mix 16 bit and 32 bit drivers on the same controller (set the CD as master, delete "noide=1" from the registry using REGEDIT).

I have a cendyne 24x10x40 cdr/rw burner made by ace. I kept getting the missing win-aspi file error message you discribe. I called cendyne support and got a patch that works with my burner. I will be happy to e-mail it to you if think it will help.

A mi equipo le pasa exactamentelo mismo y no puedo grabar ningun cd con ningun programa grabador.

Espero encuentren una solucion pronto a este problema ya que cada vez somos mas con el mismo sintoma............

I went to the site you mentioned but was unsure what to download.

I downloaded the most up to date version of Nero but this did not solve my the '?.?' problem. I could not see any downloads specific to this problem.

Could you point me in the right direction??

Ok my CD-RW worked just fine until my dad had the computer taken in to be "fixed" and "upgraded." Well we did get a new processor but the guy uninstalled everything including the drivers.

Now I thought you couldn't uninstall CD-rom drivers because they came with Windows or whatever, however when I went to burn something it gave me the same message!! My Cd-Rom works normally so I assume he didnt ininstall drivers, but I get the "error 16" and "win-aspi ?.? missing" problems!

Also, when I use disc juggler it says the same thing!

Please help me I don't know much about computers.....

download wnaspi32.dll from nero then drag into nero folder.

when we load Nero a message : could not open driver. Trying system ASPI (OK)
the WIN-ASPI'?.?' file could not be found therefore you can currently select only image recorders.
The windows is part of the windows 95/98/ME files. please fix this problem and then restart nero (error 15: mismatched components)

I cant find the file. Ive reloaded windows 98SE but it doesn't help

i have the same problem with error 12: init failed text. i have tried these drivers and stuff but nothing seems to help. my f drive (which used to be for the cds) has disappeared. can somebody help me?

I found this problem last night at 10:30pm, I fixed it this morning at 08:15am it's not difficult people.
The wnaspi32.dll seems to be for WIN2K and XP so for WIN98 and ME I recommend downloading NeroAspiEn.exe from the Nero ftp site "ftp.nero.com" try either or both of these and it should fix "error 15" and "error 16" problems.
