well,
i downloaded phptriad and it has the sircum virus along with it.

the virus just deleted my drive when ia had install the phptriad. how can anyone expect a virus in a binary install of a open source project.

2 days lost because of phptriad.

is there any one looking into it.

came to believe now that virus can really kill.

Just my 2 cents... and alittle advice..

No matter what you download from the internet, even if it is from php.net, apache.org, microsoft or any other big company.. and in your case phptriad. You should always and I mean always run it through a antivirus program..

It is better to be safe then sorry 🙂

I have the latest versions of phptriad installed on two windows machines, neither have formatted my harddrive. Are you sure it was phptriad?

yes it was phptriad. if u need a copy to test it i can send it along.

it is around 27MB +

i have kept it as a specimen in another hard drive where the boot sector is gone

Whoa I have PHPTriad and so does all my friends. None of us have the sircam virus. And for sure none has lost our stuff. I am on win98 if that makes and differnece. Where did you dl it from anyway? If it was www.phpgeek.com then I don't know how you got a bad version but if it was from any other site then I can see it happening. I would from now on get it from www.phpgeek.com because they are the ones who complied the original program in the first place so they would be the best source. Never fool with anyone but the company. I have found that out many ways. Just my two cents like dotcomtim. It sucks to hear though. Sorry!

SirCam does not attach itself to other executables, only to documents, etc - places where vbs can be executed. PHPTriad would not have been the carrier. SirCam replicates itself into several directories and registry keys. Since SirCam only did massive file deletions on October 16 so your timing is a little off. How do you know it was PHPTriad? Did a virus scanner detect it in the file, and if so how did you become infected? How do you know it didn't come from somewhere else like an email? I saw this post several days ago and decided to download PHPtriad, which had no traces of any virus, let alone SirCam. Perhaps you should do a little more research into the problem before pointing blame.
