Permissions in win2k

I am running apache 1.3 with php-4.1.1 on windows 2000 but I'm a little confused on setting permissions in windows. I've tried alot of php scripts which most have directions to chmod files 777 or some number. I am aware we arent able to chmod in win2k, so what do we use to set permissions?

For example, I've tried to setup several upload scripts for users to upload their misc stuff but I don't know how to give them access to the incoming dir. Any suggestions or need me to clarify?

I have Windows XP and i can't set them either, but i can still upload to a dir using a PHP script. I'm not sure if 2k is different to XP in file Permissions, but i don't think they differ much. Your problem may just be in you scripts.

I don't belive chmoding is necessary on win32 systems (it isnt supported), i haven't been on an nt server for years so i don't exactly remember.

My answer is "NO".

We don't have set a permission on Windows O/S. But if you want to test file upload scripts on your windows O/S, it will work.

Unfortunately, your scripts won't work 100% on Linux (Unix) machine.

You may have a permission error when you open a file, or access to your directories, or create a file or directory and so on.
